Smack historically provided fine-grained options for the
SSLContext. This is however not flexible enough, as an option to
specifiy the KeyManager(s) was missing.
This deprecated the options for keystore path, keystore type, and
PKCS#11 library, in favor of an option to set the KeyManager, which
could be aware of the keystore path and type, and the PKCS#11
library. At some point, Smack may provide some high-level methods to
create a KeyManager from provided keystore path, keytsore type and
PKCS#11 library.
This moves the logic in AbstractXMPPConnection.getSmackTlsContext()
into the ConnectionConfiguration constructor.
Also introduce SslContextFactory and use it in
ConnectionConfiguration.
This is a complete redesign of what was previously
XmppNioTcpConnection. The new architecture allows to extend an XMPP
client to server (c2s) connection with new transport bindings and
other extensions.
This patch makes it possible to change the stream-level language as part
of the connection configuration, to allow a properly implemented
entities to provide i18n'ed response messages. The Locale type is used
for this configuration, and the effective language string can be
obtained via `ConnectionConfiguration.getXmlLang()`.
This code does not cover XMPPBOSHConnection!

Also add minidns-core as dependency to smack-core. This requires
increasing the minimum required Android SDK level to 9, as this is
what MiniDNS requires.
In previous Smack versions, it was possible to set the host's IP
address via setHost(String), this is no longer possible (since the
support for DNSSEC was introduced). The new
setHostAddress(InetAddress) allows it again to explicitly specifiy the
XMPP service's host IP.
This adds the ability to provide a distinct authorization identifier for use
by SASL mechanisms. Not all SASL mechanisms support this operation, in
particular CRAM-MD5.
Both the javax and provided SASL implementations are extended, and an authzid
parameter added to the authenticate method.
The authorization identifier is passed as a EntityBareJid in order to assure the
correct form.
Resolves SMACK-677.

Instead of extending SocketFactory, the proxy support classes now
implement ProxySocketConnection. This removes a lot of unnecessary
code.
Also re-enables proxy support, which was broken in previous versions
because none of extended SocketFactories did override
createSocket() (SMACK-683).
